Introduction to Calypso Score

This important video will show you all the basics you need for a successfull start. Please watch at least this video befor you explore Calypso yourself.

Create a new song with sheets out of a PDF

This video will show you, how to create a new song, enter the title and composer name, add some sheets out of a PDF and layout them to best fit on the screen.

Prepare your newly created song for Auto Layout

In this video, we provide the previously created song with bar, jump, and tempo markers so that Calypso presents you the notes in an animated two-page layout and you can forget about turning the page manually. This is also the prerequisite for a possible synchronization of an audio recording with the notes.

Import an audio recording to your song

An MP3 file is added to the song that we created from a PDF in the last video. The recordings manager window is explained. You will also be told how to copy music recordings from your iPad's music library to Calypso.

Synchronize the music score to your audio recording

The music recording that we added to our sheet music in the last video is synchronized with the sheet music in this video. Then you can start the song at any bar and the music starts at that bar.

Improve the synchronization of your music score

The synchronization data from our last video is processed here to get an even better synchronization or to correct errors on the first try.

Annotations • Free Floating Tools Window

In preparation for all the following videos, only the free-floating window is explained, which offers all the tools and options for the various annotations.

Annotations • Text

All your comments in your grades should always give a professional appearance, true to the top premise. Calypso's sometimes unique possibilities for text annotations also contribute to this.

Annotations • Music Symbols

The +100 musical symbols offered by Calypso can all be changed in size or moved afterwards. Some symbols such as trill lines, glissandi, or ties have special editing options. You can even find freely editable guitar tabs here. Everything for the professional appearance of your notes.

Annotations • Pen and Marker Drawings

Pen drawings and highlighting with a marker go beyond the usual in Calypso. They allow you to tint your notes or e.g. Colorize Segno / Coda characters. If the marker with the magic wand option only colors the white background, then your highlights appear as printed by the publisher.

Annotations • Linked Lines

Drawings with the pen or marker are automatically grouped into line groups in Calypso. This gives you e.g. the possibility to change the color or line width of your handwritten texts as whole objects or to move them as a whole.

Annotations • Cleaning Your Sheet Music

You will appreciate this unique feature of Calypso again and again: with the 'color roll', you can make small or large areas in your notes invisible by using the automatically determined background color to paint over. With this, you can not only remove unsightly scribbles from your notes.

Annotations • Apple Pencil for Annotations

The Apple Pencil is handled very specifically in Calypso: thanks to the direction and the inclination with which you hold the Apple Pencil, you can make the type of the desired annotations in your notes faster than with a pencil.

Setlists

This video shows you how to create setlists and how to use them. It also shows how you save setlists and how they are sent to your bandmates by email - with or without a PDF of the sheet music included.

Backup and migrating your Calypso data to another iPad

This video shows you how to transfer all your Calypso data from an iPad to another one. You'll use iTunes on your computer and thus also create a backup of your Calypso data.
